Fred,
I'm sorry to learn of this event. The paper didn't put a name to the
bridge but I'm thinking they're talking about the Dewey Bridge. Steve
and I stopped there for a quick break when on De Tour in 2006. That was
quite the engineering accomplishment. As I recall, in the early 1900s it
was also the only way across the river for about 25 miles in either
direction.
Best,

Fred,
Believe I crossed that bridge once upon a time looking for some
Anasazi (i think) rock paintings....
Could be wrong, but that is what the few brain cells I have left are
telling me.
It is a sad day.

albatross

I will miss that bridge. It made an excellent rest stop during four or five
trips through Moab.
I'm glad I got to see it while it lasted.

Anyone wanting to see the flaming results of turning loose your 7 yr old with matches, I can email you some pix.
I hope the parents have a big fat home owners insurance policy, sounds like they are going to need it.

Unfortunately, no insurance policy can replace a historical landmark.
But it doesn't take a 7-year-old and matches to wreak havoc--two guys
grinding irrigation pipe in a dry, grassy area last summer sparked a
fire that torched about 250,000 acres of our backcounty.

I'm not familiar with it.
How about "before and after" pics..
Any chance of rebuilding it?

I was hoping it was a bad April Fool's joke. I'm a day late and a
dollar short again. Staying with family in CO and planning a trip to
the Moab area. We were going to head down this weekend but there's
supposed to be 10"-18" new snow between today and tomorrow.
Are any of the camping areas near Moab dog friendly? The whole
family of inlaws wants to go and that will include 4 dogs, 2 kids,
and 7 "grown-ups".
thanks,
da Vermonster
no matter what, me and my KLR will make it out to be blessed by Fred
before I head back to my East Coast home.

Wow, I've never heard of hoses reversed from the factory, very interesting! I guess there's a first for everything. A very interesting flow diagram...
Glad you got it oriented right.
Bill
