$75.00 later and a new battery

Post by Dan Bittner » Tue Apr 08, 2008 7:25 pm

Hey Pink, I'm on my 3rd KLR and all three were quick to boil out the battery fluids during hot weather riding, often in less than a thousand miles. On longish trips I used to carry a couple of 8 oz bottles of distilled water for just that purpose which was a real pain to deal with on a trip. As the knowledgeable ones have said, an AGM battery is the way go, stick one in and forget it, they last a long time and hold a charge much longer when not in use, at least mine do. Another thing to consider is, where is all that fluid going after it leaves the battery ? In the case of my first KLR, it made quite a mess of the bottom of the swing arm, rim and spokes before I figured out what was going on. You might want to check your vent tube to make sure it's positioned so it doesn't eat your bike. Ride On, Dan Bittner Sacramento, Ca.

Now a month later it's dead again. The dealer looked at the battery and it was dry as the Sahara, (snipped) Thanks! PinkFloyd Recent Activity a.. 10New Members Visit Your Group Y! pvc/abs tool roll

Would someone have the optimal overall length, including caps/plugs, of the commonly used 4" diameter tool tube that many attach to the lower frame. I do have HT Nerf bars and skid plate if that makes a difference. for those that know the sun has come out in Ketchikan again, of course it was followed by snow, rain, and hail. Thanks for the help guys, both on and off the list, Monte
