tire mounting
The instructions on how to change tubes by Fred should
be printed out and hung in every garage, this is
exactly how it should be done. Print it out!
I do NOT inflate the tube, but put in a nice, crisp
new tube, laying flat inside the rim, and you can
accomodate it so that the tire irons will never pinch
it. I learned the hard way too. If the second bead
is impossible to get inside the rim, squeeze the
oposite side of the tire together with a C-clamp or
similar device.
It seems to me that heavy duty tubes could save you
some aggrevation, but I am just new with those, so I
have no experience.
About the bike stalling after heavy splashing, as
could happen during a heavy rainstorm when pools form,
could it be that the recess where the spark plug is
located gets flooded, and cuts off the power to the
plug? I did the T-mod, and I think we should find out
what could happen, so we know how to avoid it, or what
to do if it happens.
Adventure riding, crossing unknown rivers. I park the
bike and scout the river on foot first. Then if I
think it could be done, I unload all gear, and strip
myself without the tease. I revv up the carb a bit,
and if necessary, I will walk beside the bike, revving
and working the clutch. Hopefully you don t tip over,
this bike is heavy. For this kind of madness I think
a smaller bike would be better, but...we have a KLR.
I think this is more interesting than another oil
thread, but that s just my feeling. Jacostarica.
