Does abuse and neglect count as a fluke of nature? It was a stock chain with only ~7000 miles on it. I had serviced and adjusted it prior to my trip and noticed it was loose again before leaving. Should have taken that hint to heart. Not sure what exactly happened to the chain but only half of it was on the swingarm when I stopped. Got to a nearby Kawi dealer and convinced them to cut the aftermarket chain down to 106 links for me. Originally they said they don't cut chains because they problems with idiots telling them the wrong size and then complaining. After a little while chatting and using my natural charm I was able to have them do it for me as opposed to buying another chain break (mine is at home next to the spare chain). Lesson learned? Don't plan a trip with so many damn sports/hobbies. We brought a motorcycle, 2 mountain bikes, 2 snowboards, 2 sets of snowshoes, swimming gear, and who knows what else... p.s. Beware Continental Cargo trailers or any other trailer made by Forest River Inc. (US Cargo, Carmate, Haulin, Continental Cargo, and maybe some others). I bought a brand new one on the way out to CO and had problems with it on day two of my ownership. I'm still dealing with the "warranty" department and the GM of Forest River, Inc. I will post more details about this when my communication with the company is complete. da Vermonster
