slip clutch - or whatever you call it

Hellow,
Has anyone had any experience with the additional clutch that trail riders are using.
A friend told he has one on a bike of his and it makes it much easier to handly in rough tereign. He also said they have come out with one for the KLR650. It is about $700.00.
