exhaust bolt recall

Post by Tom Zangla » Tue Apr 01, 2008 1:55 pm

After I received the third exhaust bolt recall notice for my A19 I took this notice and wrote a little note on it and sent it back. I told them my bolts fell out already and I replaced them myself. A few minutes ago I received a call from Kawasaki Motors 949 770 0400 and the person on the other end told me that they received my note but I would still have to take my KLR 650 to the dealers to be checked out. I replied, "Why should I waste my time to have them check the bolts that I replaced". The person on the other end replied OK and then hung up. Tom SW Pennsylvania

exhaust bolt recall

They do this to limit their liability should you or anyone else be burned or otherwise damaged by the exhaust system falling off. And, since they hounded me to the point of distraction, I pulled in one day to the local KAW pasture and they checked it in 5 minutes while I picked-up a new oil filter. I had already torqued/checked it during the 500 mi, 1000, and 1500 mile bolt tightening exercise.... but the mail and calls stopped albatross just looking for a little peace

Since my local Kawi dealership is a great place and very 'old school' I dropped the card off with them, told them I'd torqued and 'blue- locktited' my bolts within the first week of ownership and told 'em to collect their recall fee from Kawi . . . No more cards or calls.

after painting wetsand and put a couple coats of clear coat on it for durability. Thomas Forest Park Ga. "Old Geezer club member 39.11" 90 Tengai 21,000 miles ----- Original Message ---- From: E.L. As an experiment, I painted a stripe on my front fender with Krylon Fusion. My results: It's very color-fast (even today it's still the same brilliant green that it started as), and sticks very well to plastic even if it's flexible plastic, but it is not very durable. It scratches and chips very easily and gas destroys it. In short, it's a great paint to spiff up a bike right before you go to sell it. Otherwise... (piffle). I'll stick with my ugly plastics instead! ____________________________________________________________________________________ You rock.
