long term storage tips

As a result of these two posts, I ordered a Garmin StreetPilot 2610 from EdgeGPS, and it arrived the NEXT day! (mid-March) I played around w/ it till I pretty much got comfortable w/ it, but then on Monday 24th the 'touchscreen' quit responding. I phoned them Tuesday AM, then called (on their request) Garmin who directed me to do a "full reset" which didn't fix the problem, so I re-phoned EdgeGPS. They sent a replacement which got here yesterday (27th) at 3:30PM. I am EXTREMELY pleased with,and gratefull for, their customer-care!!! Due to my experience with them I can recommend them. I'll add that if the finish is important to you, you might consider a moto bag from here: www.carbag.com. Also, a if you have a liquid-filled battery (versus an AGM), consider wiping it clean and storing it in the fridge. Battery tenders will eventually use up the electrolyte, whereas cold storage will slow down the discharge and cleaning it will prevent parasitic discharge through via crud/slime/dirt between the terminals. __Arden
