Excellent review of choices. I'll add one -- buy a tent. You can get a real
nice stand-up-in-it tent for $200. Waterproof, no-see-um netting, rain fly,
etc.
Chris
P.S. Regarding the horse trailer, you could just carry along a bale of straw
for bedding ...

Hello Bob,
Oh, oh, oh, those toy haulers are nice! Gag, $20K+ nice (new).
Shudder. That is a lot of nights at Motel 8.
For ideas/starters, trying going to a place that sells horse trailers. No,
not to buy one, but just for ideas. Many of these outfits have various
accommodations that are Spartan to you-got-to-be- kidding accommodations.
Spartan would be, a space for a folding cot (painful to put up and down
every night) or something that folds vertically into the bulkhead, but will
stick out about 6 inches.
shurg. You might even get an address from the manufacturer, and get them to
build you what you want. shrug.
Then, for a second opinion,
Go back and have a look at a snowmobile trailer, pointed in the front for
less wind resistance-and begin to imagine what you might be able to do
inside one of those babies. It has a ramp in the back, and one to drive out
the front/side. To make this work, you will need some internal framing,
i.e. square tube skeleton to mount that single bunk that folds up vertically
into the bulkhead. Most of the trailers are not 'stressed' very well to take
a lot of weight hung on the bulkheads without additional bracing. Add some
windows to the side for ventilation--available at any place that builds
campers, etc.
As a third option, (closer to my budget) a used 4-horse trailer that has not
completely rusted out, could be easily be boxed in, windows added, with
plenty of space to load motorcycles. Caution: look at a horse trailer
closely: there is usually a reason it is for sale; it is worn out-or rusted
out! And spendy to repair properly. Cough.
But maybe, (closest to my budget-smile) the best option is to buy one of the
wire bed trailers, and sleep in the van or the pickup w/ shell- camper that
tows it. shrug.
And lastly, I saw what appeared to be "sleeping-box" mounted on the front of
a car carrier, with the motorcycles/4 wheelers tied to the back. Seemed to
work well for them, the box was removeable, and the car carrier returned to
do more than just hauling toys.
It all depends on how deep are thou pockets.
