diy offset bar risers

Hello KLR Gurus:
I have made a simple set of offset bar risers to move the bars on my
KLR to a better position for standing (2" up and 2" forward) out of a
cheap standard riser set and a few inches of spare square steel
tubing.
They put the bars in the perfect position, at least for me. What I am
wondering about is what would happen in a crash (I tend to do that).
I am thinking that the increased lateral forces exerted by the
extensions might crack the triple clamp where the original bolts
threaded in. Any thoughts? Any experience with commercially made
offset risers?

Hi Matthew
They look fine to me. My bars are in a similar position but I have used a
commercially made riser. I'll take some photos and post them on the site.

Hi Matthew,
No clue as to what will happen in a crash--and I doubt anyone else
could either--although if there are pointy objects and exposed edges
involved, they may factor into increased damage to the rider, etc.
A short story: I hit the ground in a airplane once when I hit wind
shear at the end of the runway (ugly experience), and we should have
all been killed. nada scratch to me or my passengers, but did do $88K
in damage to the airplane. (I love you Beechcraft!) I tumbled on the
KLR and did no damage to the bike and $30K+ to the pilot. shrug. Who
can know? Wear ATGATT, make it the best you can afford and go change
the gas often.
Oh, and 4.0 on the farkle. Let us know how it works for you.

The TOPO maps are not protected and do not need unlock codes.
Just load all the TOPO maps to your hard drive and you will no longer
need the CD's
The same is true for the national parks Series.
The great thing about the National parks maps is that you can route
on trails if the maps cover the area.
