I've got a dialog going with Buchanon wheel regarding a 17" wheel for
my KLR. I'm looking to "supermotared" my A15. Akny suggestions on rim
width? 3 1/2 seems to be popular with the SM guys.

4 1/2 is standard for Supermoto rears. It will accept a 150 tire perfectly,
which is about as big as you'd want to to.
That said, and having sunk a whole lot of money into a Honda XR650L
Supermoto conversion, I think a KLR is a pretty bad choice for a SM
conversion. So is an XR650L, but it's more suitable than a KLR.

Ooops! 4.25 is standard for the rear, 3.50 is standard for the front.
Racebikes are going larger and larger (and to 16.5" front rims), but 4.25"F &
3.5"R would be best for a KLR.

Aren't Pellicans available in about 5 different colors?
I'm just thinking you are in a losing battle. They will look like crap
after being bumped a bit. At least the colored ones are the same color molded
throughout. And I suspect you already own them, so the above advice isn't
helping you.
Just my .02 worth.
