vendor: backpacks, hydration packs and accessories for them.
So a few weeks ago I spied some backpacks at a local show/swap meet.
I looked them over really well and realized some of them would make
very nice packs for those of us that don't mind wearing a pack of some
sort while riding.
I ended up finding the supplier and getting set up as a dealer for them.
I personally have been wearing a very nice, but compact backpack since
I got it in 1996. It has served me well, but at times I wish it was
bigger. Wearing a pack isn't for everyone, but where I ride, there's
usually a few in the group that wear a pack, or at least a hydration
pack that has limited functionality as a true backpack.... I ride
mostly on trails and fire roads, so things get bounced around a lot,
and the pack I own never has bothered me or gotten in the way. In it I
carry a small first aid kit, lunch and snacks, hydration system and
other misc. small items and tools.
One of the keys to a comfortable pack, and forgetting that it's there
while riding, is that it have a chest, or sternum strap that
interconnects the two shoulder straps, that is adjustable (and
equipped with a buckle). This strap keeps the pack from flailing all
over and seeming like it wants to fall off.
Here they are:

The one that seems like the most interesting, all around useful ones
for the typical "day rides" I go on, is #126 model.

That one and the bigger ones have webbing sewn across the front, this
is the new military style of expanding packs and stuff called MOLLE /
PALS...basically it allows you to attach accessory pouches to this
webbing.)
There's also a smaller one that includes a hyrdation bladder with it,
the #124 pack.
