The rectifier on my A1 cooked itself at 20,000 miles. The symptoms were the gross smell of smoldering electrics and a rectifier connector that was starting to melt. Before that, it had quit charging the battery reliably. A new one was $110.00 mail-order, and that was probably 7 years ago. It seemed probable that the rectifier was defective,
but after three of the four tests as per manual
supplement, it seems ok, but then the good folks from
Kasawaki continue to say, that even if all the tests
indicate that the rectifier is good, it still could be
bad. Interesting. We will continue step by step to
solve this riddle, and ALL riddles!! Yours Truly,
costarica Jake man. Yes, indeed, the Culprit is
Albertson extra special finest blended...I don t get
double malt from my captains, cheap bastards!

Aah, I must have meant regulator. I guess that it is
true, I have read on this list the assessment that the
makers of the KLR think this is an expensive toy for
grown up boys, and that it is made to last abt. 40K
miles. I was shooting for a rugged, all-round bike
that would be reliable and could be used on a daily
basis, as I have no car. I feel a bit dissapointed,
but not surprised. time to move on, I am looking at a
YBR250, she is flirting me. Anyone wants a A18 for
2000 dollar in Costa Rica? Jacostarica.

This was posted on another list and I thought it might be interesting.
We just think we have a big single, even with the 700+cc kit!
If you read German it may make more sense if you go the original web page.
