here have basements (not all) and it's important to remember that the area is sparely populated. We have an area under the stairs that is totally enclosed where we can go when the sirens go off. In the past 7 years the sirens have only sounded once, and I have only seen one up close. Don't need to see any more. It's a roll of the dice, but no different to the earthquakes or fires in California, the Hurricanes in Florida and Louisiana. As your modification, indicates, it's not the box that's weak. It's the threads/nuts on the backside. I ripped one off of my bike without even straining it. I've also seen them ripped out on Budd's Creek MX track, twice on 2 different KLRs,and in an asphalt low side.(Nice work Zack! -- ok, they weren't all Zack, but a good number of them were. The rest were probably me.) I haven't had a single problem since tapping out the mounts to M10. My theory is that this also puts threads onto box frame which strenghtens the contact just enough to make up for the swiss cheese nut material that the Kawi engineers used in their infinite wisdom. Zack and I both weigh more than 200 lbs. so that may have something to do with our experience, but all KLRs weigh more than 350 lbs., and putting that weight on the stock mounts time and again will surely do some damage. I suspect that if you put the center stand back on with your upgraded mounts you wouldn't have any problems either... da Vermonster Nice mod though, can I try to clear a double on your KLR and see what happens? :")
