tech day announcement

Buddy and I have another tech day coming up Feb 16th. Details can be found on www.leftcoastklrs.com. We have anywhere from 20 to 50 riders show up. We've done everything but split cases at these events. Buddy and I've purchased enough lifts to have 1 table lift and 5 portable lifts available. Sharing is still necessary, of course. If you have your own tools and can bring them, that's great. If you can't, we'll take care of you. I feel that a couple of points need to be made. Buddy and I have hosted these for about 5 years now. Our goal is to create an atmosphere where people learn, and then come back later and help others learn. This has worked well. Each day we have anywhere from 25 to 50 percent new participants. We ask that if you find the day valuable to you, pass it on, or pay it forward - if you can and are comfortable doing so. We welcome everyone that is there to learn, help others learn, or generally share in the positive atmosphere at this event. I can't remember all the names of the people that have contributed - sorry! Thanks to all of you! all the best, Mike

I've been to motorcycle gatherings of all kinds over the years, and even hosted Concours tech days when I lived in the Chicago 'burbs, but I can say without a doubt that these Julian KLR Tech Days are the best motorcycle mechanical learning that one can get short of MMI or the like. It's like you have a good shop mechanic, who lets you look over his shoulder while he slows down and explains to you what he's doing, while knowledgeable onlookers discuss it. Then multiply that by five, all over the shop. In a friendly, warm atmosphere. If you can possibly make it to one of these, do it. - Dave Svoboda, Sandy Eggo At 10:34 PM 1/31/2008, Mike wrote:

I read the other that Netscape is "nipples vertical" also. I switched to "Opera" on my laptop which seems to be ok, When I get time I'll put it on the mac desktop. I've been using that browser for years and I am very familiar with it. DC Harry Seifert wrote:

Are you kidding, go to a tech day in California. I don't even consider it. Why should I when Mike drives to Moab for the Canyonlands Motor Classic every year and does the same great stuff. And on top of it, he cooks my dinner. I only have to come from Colorado and hang out with the likes of other crusty KLR riders (this includes my wife). Maybe some day I'll go the San Diego ( I lived there 37 years ago) but I can't come up with a good reason. So I guess if you don't want to drive to California, come to Moab the week after Memorial Day every year and meet Mike and other great folks, that includes Fred too.

tech day announcement

Post by Dana Christensen » Sun Feb 03, 2008 11:03 am

Hello all, I have been learning a lot from everyones inputs and was finally able to talk my bride into letting me out on a weekend pass, so, it is my full intention on being at the Tech day, but I need to find out where in SD it is. I was stationed there while in the Navy so I have a good working sense of the town. Is there a suggested list of basic tools I should bring? My brides B- day is on the 17th so the family will bring the cage down and see family and such while I explore the inner workings of my beast. Thanks, Dana
