decent kick in the pants if I whack the throttle wide open? Right now nothing much happens, the bike will slowly accelerate up to an indicated 80mph, not quickly enough for passing though. I doubt if the bike will do more than

I hear a lot on this list about people running their bikes at or below 5K RPM. None of the KLRs I've had have had any decent kick until a little over 5K and up top about 6.5K. It ain't gonna pull your arms out above 70mph anyway but it will run faster than 85mph for a lot of miles. (trust me on that one) My bike doesn't even sound happy until it hits 5K. Sounds like your bike is acting just as it should. da Vermonster 96 KLR650 lost but not forgotten 97 KLR650 RIP 04 KLR650 still rippin' 99 KTM 640 hole in the head 00 KDX 220 blown bottom end I like my bikes to run to make me smile, not necessarily run forever
