mexico trip a success

Post by nevadamontagu » Sat Jan 05, 2008 9:15 pm

Just got back from my trip to Mexico. I rode my KLR from Naco, AZ to Puerto Vallarta, to Guadalajara, up through Chihuahua, back to Naco. 2500 miles, 13 days. Warm weather, freezing weather. Burned out my magneto, or whatever. A couple of lost bolts, but I was prepared with extras. No flats, accidents or major mechanicals!!!!! About 10 close calls. Good time. The Conti Escape tires rule. Corbin flat saddle is a must. No butt fatigue what-so-ever. Taller wind screen helped, as did the Hot Grips. I packed super light and didn't miss anything except a heated vest. Although, I doubt my bike would have been able to power it, along with my 12 volt accessory outlet. Will probably sell the 2007 KLR and buy a 2008 V-Strom 650 or BMW 800 GS. -N Denver, CO

Interesting concept, bike treated you well on your adventure, so now you will sell it to buy a younger model with bigger cc's .. Thought we were only allowed to do that with wives? albatross who has had more than 1 --- In DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com, "nevadamontagu" wrote:

Ah, Terry, You (as always) suggest an interesting juxtaposition of the moral and ethical dilemma, intersected with theological implications. revmaaatin. who is off to the contemplative work with the sheep and a few goats

Thanks to all of you who answered this post, too. I got opinions, part #s, even pictures, this group is a great resource. I'm gonna go with the 2000 DR pegs, instead of the '95s, I think I'll like the extra width. -Gerry
