My running lights are not coming on on my 93 KLR650. Brake light works when break is on, headlight works when accessory is on, but while bike is running neither the headlight or taillight works. I would say that you absolutely blew one of the fuses located under the seat. It happens often to some bikes. Replace it with a newer style 'blade' fuse. Pat

I had something similar like this on my A9. I took the front signal lights and modified the single pole recptagles to accpet dual pole, dual elements bulbs. I used the aux lead under the fairing as the power source, with the common ground in the signal lights. I wired up a switch and mounted it to the instrument cluster. Every now and then the running lights would not com on. Seems the tail light was in the same circuit. I traced the circuit to find a weak point in the master key switch. When I would turn on the switch for the running lights and lights would not come on, I would lightly nuge the ingition key counter clockwise and running lights and tail light would come on. Every now and then, If I was concerned about the tail light, I would turn on the running lights. If the illuminate, the tail light was working. Bought some LED's to use as running lights for the KLR and am well pleased with their effectiveness. eBay Store: http://stores.ebay.com/All-City Current auction Item number 170176745503 $7 shipped with shipping discounts for multiple items. No affiliation with the above store, just a satisfied customer. After putting some three-wire blinkers on the front of my VX800 I noticed that cars were not pulling out in front of me anywhere near as often. The combination of a single headlight framed by two amber running lights is recognizable by even the most semi-conscious cager as a motorcycle whereas a single headlight without running lights is easily overlooked, especially against a backdrop of other headlights. I just glued the LED's right to the amber blinker lens so they would be as far from the headlight as possible. Zip tied the wires to the stalks and ran them through small holes drilled in the fairing to a switched power source in the harness. The LEDs draw much less current than the 3W elements in the 1157 bulbs, plus they are brighter than the 3W elements of an 1157 bulb. If someone can tell me how to post a photo to the list I'd be happy to do so. I need to take a better shot than what my phone-cam did last night. I used a flexible adhesive called E6000(tm) Medium Viscosity Clear, which held up during today's boulder bashing and fire-road excursion.
