Just found out Evel Kneivel just passed away. What's this have to do with KLRdom, I don't know.........but he sure made the rest of couch potato America aware of motorcycles and motorcycling.
Anytime a motorcyclist dies, it's a loss to the rest of us.

The memories of Evel will live on forever. Long live it. Would love to
see the jumpers of today break his record on the same machinery. ;-)_

Hey Andy,
Do ya think he coulda jumped one of your rigs????? I think a boy from
down your way, a Mr. Bubba Blackwell, has inherited and surpassed some of
Knievel'a records. We saw him jump out here at the Del Mar Fair when he
sorta kinda missed his landing ramp and ended up going into intensive care
for about three weeks. Came back the next year and cleared a couple of
more cars that what he missed the year before.

Robert "Evel" Kneivel RIP.
Definitely one of my heroes. If you have a chance, check out "Extreme Evel" on the History
Channel. It is an amazing 2 hour documentary, I believe it is on this afternoon (here in SF,
CA). Evel was fricking hardcore.
I agree Andy, it would be interesting to see what would happen if some of these "extreme"
motorcycle stunt riders of today tried to break Evel's records on a 70's era Harley with only
a couple of inches of travel. Evel was, and always will be, the man.

Think how Evil Knevil would have gone with today's bikes and the trick suspensions. he did all of his jumps with bikes that probably had 3-4" or rear suspension travel. If you had of told him that he was going to last this long 30 years ago, he would have laughed out loud. He was the man!

One of a kind. I doubt too many people will focus on this aspect of his
life, so I will.
He dearly loved his grandchildren and he always made it a point to stay in
touch with the people he loved the most, his friends and family. And lastly,
most important to him above all was his new-found faith in Jesus Christ.
Just as he always took great care in surrounding himself with the best
people he could depend upon to help him make his jumps during his motorcycle
career, Knievel found his greatest friend of all in preparation for his
final leap from life. He was profoundly happy that he gave his life to God,
who comforted him and gave him the strength he needed to make it through the
end.

I like the fact that he beat the crap out of that writer who talked
bad about him and his Mother knowing it would cost him millions of
dollars and said he would do it again after he was tried (and lost).
And on a jump in England (13 school buses if I remember correctly).
Before the scheduled jump, he and Frank Gifford went to look at what
he was supposed to jump. He looked at Gifford and said "My God Giff,
I can't jump this." Gifford asked if he was going to back out of the
deal and Knievel said he had to attempt it as he had already been
paid. He crashed badly and said he would never jump again. 6 months
later he returned and did the same jump. I can't believe what he
jumped on those Harleys and Triumphs in suspension's prehistoric
times. I saw him jump indoors at the Dallas Convention Center in the
early 70's indoors. A true one of a kind. He lived the life of 10 men.

fender brace

Looking for a HT K9 fork brace to use as a fender mount. Cheap would be
good. Eagle Mike if you read this I have been trying to get up with you
