all martians are green

To me it seems rather simple; the more weight you
slepp around, the more energy you will need. And the
more sophisticated the technology, the better will the
fuel be converted into energy, with less by- products.
Many big sport bikes seem to have a rather short life
span. Here in Costa Rica, the people that cannot
afford a car, will drive 125-250 cc MC s, many of them
two stroke, which stink up to high heaven. But these
bikes will be in use until they are 20+ years old. Of
cause my little YBR125 is much greener than the KLR,
and much greener than an airplane, but that should not
be a motivation to ditch all airplanes.
Unless you want to travel from San Diego to Boston on
a YBR125.
Lately there is a wave of cheap Chinese made fantasy
brand bikes and scooters innundating the market, let s
see if they will last five years. I think it is green
to make quality products, and not produce a never
ending stream of trash. Modern products are not made
to last long, so more sales can be made, and landfills
overflow.
I have never had a problem with the locking link
device on the cheap, normal chains, el candadito.
Cheaper chains do not last as long, and need more
lubrication. I don t know what would be more
economical, in the long run. Safety first, probably.
Jake.
