Alaska is a wonderful place. Personally, my best times have been kayaking and being out in the bush. I didn't find riding 1,000s of miles on the road to be very rewarding, and Alaska simply doesn't have a lot of places to go off-road riding. Nonetheless, I would visit every year if I had the time. Next trip I hope to do more kayaking in PWS and visit Ketchikan and surround areas. I've heard nice things about the area. How do you get your KLR in/out of Ketch??? I spent a few days in Wrangel St Elias last year and boy, I miss those tasty Copper River salmon! As for seeing your own state...I lived in Massachusetts for many years and moto touring it never crossed my mind...boring. NH and VT were a bit more interesting especially in Fall season, but rock climbing in North Conway and hiking the White Mountains were my favorites. --- In DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com, "monte quint" wrote:
