Some smart KLister posted once "If the exit is higher, it's a vent, if it's lower, it's a drain". Perceptive and accurate. The vent equalizes the pressure between the carb's innards and the atmosphere, there is very little (if any) airflow, and even one drop of water can block it enough to make your bike run like crap. I reckon cutting a hole or two a few inches up from the bottom of the vent hose (and making it a flute :-) ) may have the same beneficial effect. Thanks CA Stu
