clever safety device for off-road adventures

Post by macvalk » Thu Nov 15, 2007 12:08 pm

http://www.findmespot.com/explorespot/checkin.aspx For those of you that go off in the wilds alone (as I do on my KLR). Here is a handy device for emergencies, or to check in with loved ones and tell them you are OK. Clever stuff and at a reasonable price. I've been lost a few times and had a flat in a bad spot, but have been lucky to get myself out of trouble! I got lost in central Oregon one time on my KLR and my GPS took me down goat tracks, I knew I couldn't get up. Light was going, getting cold etc. Luckily GPS took me onto a logging road and got back to safety in the dark, as temps were getting close to freezing. This is on my wish list before I venture out off road again. Machog

low rear brake

Post by Rick » Thu Nov 15, 2007 9:59 pm

For road riding, my wife and I found both of KLR's had a rear brake pedal that was to low. I tried all of the previous mentioned remedies. They all worked a bit. I ended up putting a bolt in the pedal to raise it up closer to level with the footpeg. For us, it works really well.
