I don't think you gave enough information for us to long distance guess as to what's happened or is happening. How about providing some info on the bike like year and miles. Then provide some details on the valve adjustment like clearances for each valve before, shims in place before and after and then after shim replacement valve clearance. Just saying they are now in specs gives a variety of possibilities as to what might be going on. Also, did you use a torque wrench on the cam cap bolts?
