Hello all, I was wondering if anyone remembered seeing an article in regards to kevlar riding pants that you were able to wear under a pair of jeans but had knee/shin guards, hip pads and a tail bone pad. I have met my newest enemy, Mr. Asphalt and need to get some protection that works. I saw these pants somewhere but when I went to buy them, the old memory banks were empty. any help would be greatly appreciated. Have a great weekend riding.

Hi Dana, The Bohn Bodyguard line of products has some armored pants for wearing under your jeans: http://bohnarmor.com/catalog/products.php?cat=17 I'm not personally familiar with them. Mike Martin, Louisville, KY --- In DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com, "dana_laptop" wrote:

Speaking of riding pants and stuff related. I did a 740 mile ride Friday coming back from New Mexico ..... and my butt and related stuff (cajones) suffered greatly in the process. I rode with First Gear Hypertex pants with the inside liner removed as it was hot and wore regular cotton brief type underwear. I was on the Concourse rather than the KLR as it is supposed to be better for long haul rides (but I am not so sure). The sport bike type riding position had my .... err .... stuff smashed into the tank all day and the cotton underwear was sweat drenched leading to a sort of wet diaper syndrome. I have tried sheep skin, beads etc. and haven't found the perfect solution. I think part of the problem is I don't think the Connie fits me all that well as I have short arms. My knees were killing me at the end as well even though I have lowered the pegs and raised the handlebars. Other than all that the Connie ran like a top but I have to say the KLR is a better seat position by far for long rides. The Connie has convinced me that I no longer yearn for a Ducati other than maybe a MultiStrasada. Sometimes I watch Harley types running down the road with no weight resting on their wrists and legs stretched forward and wonder if they are on to something for the long haul rides. Not all Harley guys trailer to their destination. I pass plenty on the highway going somewhere. How's that Goldwing Fred? Criswell

Well, there's your problem! Cotton kills--not only in cold weather, but on motorcycles, too. Try bicycle shorts, or if you're too shy to sport the Euro-weenie look, Under Armor or Ex Officio briefs. All that nylon and lycra wick moisture away, and the comfortably snug fit eliminates chafing. -- Blake Sobiloff http://www.sobiloff.com/> San Jose, CA (USA) [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

+1 on the bike shorts. Keep the briefs for the boudoir and put some slide in your ride with lycra. Padded or upadded, they make a big difference in comfort. A side benefit is that you can drop trou anywhere to change clothes without getting arrested, since you're technically wearing outwear instead of choners. I have lots of them for bicycle riding and use the lightest ones on the moto. Should you find yourself on a real horse instead of an iron one, they work well there, too. __Arden

seat suggestions

I looking for a wider seat, and one that is level so it won't angle down towards the tank. I'm going to be going on some long trips. After the last 2,800-mile jaunt my butt was in agony. Something comfy and big. Any suggestons beside Corbin, which are too firm for me. Dave
