After two spills and replacement of the rear brake bracket, I noticed
the handlebars are out of alignment with the front wheel. Didn't notice
on the way home after the second fall, I just knew the brake bracket
had broken and was hoping I wasn't. Upon further inspection, it seems
the handlebars are not bent, but it along with the instrument cluster,
and front fender are all a bit tweeked. Is there a procedure for re-
aligning the "frontend"?

front fork alignment?
Hi JIm, usually a piece of cake, in my experience it usually is a
simple matter of loosening the top triple clamp pinch bolts, braceing
the front wheel against something, my prefered way is to straddle the
front wheel facing the bike and with the wheel braced against the
inside of your leg push/pull on the handlebars to bring everything back
into alignment which will probably take a couple of tries and then
simply retorque the pinch bolts, not sure how well this way would work
on the KLR because of the plastic hand guards. Another way is to loosen
the bolts place the side of the wheel against a suitable tree and push
on the handlebars to tweak all back into alignment, either way if there
are no bent parts a very simple process. You don;t need to loosen the
pinch bolts very much and don't loosen the top and bottom triple clamp
pinch bolts at the same time unless the bikes weight is supported as
the fork tubes will slide up through the triple clamps which on a bike
as heavy as a KLR would be less then fun. Remember to properly torque
all of the torque bolts, not just the one's you loosened, just to be on
the safe side....Have a great weekend....Greg

front fork alignment?
I go to the local school and use the bicycle rack and a couple of wood
wedges to hold the wheel in alignment...
