2008 klr ignition key problems

Post by fuelistocheap » Tue Jul 17, 2007 10:51 am

I have an 08 that sticks a bit too but i find it isn,t the key giving me the problem. it seems that the weight of the front end leaning against the locking mechanism makes the lock hard to disengage i found wiggling the bars while i unlock makes all the difference. hopefully this wears out soon. --- In DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com, Jim Douglas wrote:

klx650 transporting a klr650 in a van?

Post by Alan L Henderson » Tue Jul 17, 2007 11:34 am

The KLR will fit in a Dodge Caravan with some work. I have hauled mine in an 85 Caravan and a 2000 Grand Caravan. I removed the windshield, mirrors, the front springs, and rolled the handle bars back as far as possible. In the 2000 I had to let the air out of the tires to get it inside then re inflated once inside. I used good quality motorcycle tie downs to fasten to the seat mounts in the floor of the Caravan. I used 3 sets which is probably a little overkill but considering it was in the van with me I didn't want it to move much in advent of an accident or fast maneuver. I hauled it from mid Iowa to Moab on purpose and from Denver to central Iowa when I became ill in Colorado.
