I can believe 50K on a KLR chain if you use a Scottoiler. I use the Scottoiler and I have over 19K miles on my DID Gold chain and it has never even even been adjusted sinc the day I put in on the bike. I just replaced the countershaft sprocket as it was showing a little bit of wear, at 17,076 miles. See http://johnbiccum.smugmug.com/gallery/794956/1/36898305 for a picture of it. I the couyntershaft sprocket would have gone another 10K if I needed. The rear sprocket still shows zero visable wear. Scottoilers are not cheap but I think that they pay for themselves by prolonging the life of the drivetrain. Huh, I've got about 22k miles on my chain but I've had to adjust it a few times and I changed the front sprocket at about 10k when it began to show a little wear. Figured that would make the trio last longer. I thought that was pretty good but the chain life you're getting is truly impressive. What kind of oil are you using in the oiler ? Bogdan

Dang it I goofed up somewhere and my message didn't make it in. SO here I go again: I like the idea of the Scottoiler, but have heard that in dirty/dusty conditions it can be worse than not having it because it will keep the chain so oily that it attracts extra dirt, accelerating wear. Is it made more for machines that see mainly street duty? I like to play in the dirt a fair amount so I don't know if it's for me or not...anybody have input on that? Gabe A19

The oiler came with 1/2 liter of "Scottoil" so I used that up first. I had read somewhere that Scottoil is nothing more than ATF so when I finished the Scottoil I switched to ATF. But the ATF was too way thin and I could not get the feedrate low enough to keep spattered ATF off the swingarm and the back of my GiVi bags. (Scottoil must NOT be ATF) So then I switched to el cheapo chainsaw bar oil.
