hello all:()
I am having problems trying to find where my oil is going. It's not
the plug and I can't seem to find any visual signs of leakage. Has any
one else in this group had problems with oil leaks

How much do you lose?
What sort of riding, RPM etc.?
Big singles do tend to suck some oil past the rings. This should
burn up and not not make the plug oily. Freeway/high RPM riding
should make this much worse.

Yeah, I had the saaaame problem for awhile. My riding buddy thought it was -really funny- to watch me go over and over the engine looking for the cause of the oil loss. Turns out he had slipped a dollop of oil-eating bacteria in to my crankcase and they were having a feast.

Got even by sprinkling some flesh-eating bacteria onto his ham sandwich. We'll see who has the last laugh..

It is fairly common for KLRs to use a small amount of oil, especially
at higher RPMs. You don't say how much oil you're using or what kind
of riding you do, though, so maybe something different is happening
with your bike. But, it seems fairly common for a bit of oil sludge
to build up in the piston's ring pack, allowing a little oil to get
past the rings and burn. It's not enough to show on the plug, but
you'll notice the drop in your oil level.
I eliminated the high-RPM oil loss by using Cycle-Rx in the oil. It
cleaned the ring pack quite nicely. See http://sobiloff.typepad.com/
blakeblog/oil/index.html> for details--you'll have to scroll towards
the bottom of that page, as I did the treatment quite a while ago.

Personally I feel these HIDs should be made illegal across the board for
public roads. It would be fine if you operated as the only vehicle on
the road, however they are downright blinding to oncoming traffic. This
presents an additional hazard of the oncoming car being blinded and
hitting you or simply killing himself or a bystander on the side of the
road. To each his own, personally I'll just slow down a bit at after dark.
