It's with great sadness that I have to pass on this information to you. Our friend, Bill Monahan, aka Wild Bill, who spent quite a bit of time on this list and put many, many miles on KLRs and other dual- sport bikes decided to end his life on Tuesday evening at his home in Cobb, CA. There was no indication or note left as to the reason for his decision, but suffice to say, he was obviously going through some rough times. I wish I could tell you more. I am waiting to hear about funeral arrangements, and will update you-all when I know more. Bill lived in Santa Rosa, CA, a few miles from me before moving to the mountains in Cobb Ca, and I've had quite a few get-togethers with Bill for just coffee, dinner at a Mexican restaurant or even a short evening KLR ride into the mountains. He was quite a character to say the least, but really did enjoy the simple things in life. I enjoyed spending time with him. I personally have enjoyed a few good day-long rides as well as an overnight camping trip up at the Lost Coast with Bill and his faithful sidekick, James Pool who's a great chef who could whip up anything and make it delicious. Some of you may have met him at the big doohickey feast at my house in Forestville, CA, when he showed up on his new KTM 950 Adventurer. To end this rotten post on a good note, I'm posting 3 links below to my pictures of Bill at the doohickey party, our camping trip to the Lost Coast, and an all-day ride in the Mendocino National Forest. These were times when Bill was having a really good time, and that's how I want to remember him. He will be missed by many. Bills KTM is in picture #16. It's in the center on the driveway. You can't miss it, it's the only bike that's NOT a KLR. Bill himself made it into only one of these photo's..........he's the guy on the left of photo #20, towards the back of the garage behind Dale Steele. I always found Bill's posts interesting, not sure whether I ever met him in person. He will be missed. Alan Henderson

Shit. I had assumed things were better for Bill after he got a place in the Mtns. Bill and I had chatted a lot back when he was active on the list and we met up at one of the Old Cycle Daze up in Donner CA ( Hwy 40) He was a good soul , but nowadays ther is lots of stuff to be shamed about.
