fork oil questions

Hey guys,
I have a few questions about fork oil for the KLR.
1. Can I mix 20w with 5w of the same brand to make 15w? I want to try 15w in my fork but the bike shop where I live only stocks 5w, 10w and 20w. I know you can mix weights in a mountain bike fork but don't know about KLRs.
2. After adding the oil to the fork fully compressed is the measurement 170mm or 190mm from the top of the sanchion tube to get the correct oil volume? I've seen both numbers on different sites. Wondering which one is correct.

Yes, but it might be easier to mix equal portions of 10W and 20W to
get your desired 15W.

Both are. It depends on whether you have a 600 or a 650; the 650
recommends 190mm from the top with the forks compressed and the
springs out. The other figure is for the 600.

Yes you can mix it.
I cheated... pulled screws, pulled caps, drained and added 355ml and
put caps back on.
I used 10w and have only got a short ride sofar after doing, but the
stock fish oil seemed thicker. Pretty Metal Flake colored even.
Figured no biggy, run it this way for awhile and maybe later do a
proper flush and fill, consider this pre-soak.

i just changed my fork oil last week, with 10w-30 engine oil, yes its
true and it works fine

a lot cheaper too.

I feel like an offical DSN_KLR member after updating my doohickey,
getting my valves in check and cleaning my oil screen. My Orginal
doohickey was in good shape but I feel much better now that it is
upgraded. I also cleaned the oil screen even though this probably did
not have to be done. There was a small wire of some kind that i felt
was kind of odd. I also checked my valve clearence and they were
getting tight. My Left Exhaust was at .002, Right exhaust was
at .002, Left Intake was at .003 and right intake was at .004. I set
them all to the max clearence and now i got some slap happy valves:).
When i bought the bike i had 4,000 miles on it and the owner told me
that all the maintenance was up to date by the shop (including valve
check). I now have 13,000 miles. I never got around to checking them
until now, good thing i did because i was looking at catastrophic
engine failure!!!!!
