wider throttle tube

Post by steven_bingham@dell.com » Thu Jan 12, 2006 4:17 pm

Is it possible that the previous owner trimmed off too much of the throttle tube when installing the hand guards? I installed a set of Maier hand guards and have the same problem when I wear my winter gloves. I haven't tried it yet, but I was thinking of mounting a set of bar end weights on the inside of the guards to move them out a little. Not sure if the crossbar will get in the way of the inner guard mount, though. -----Original Message----- From: DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com [mailto:DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com] On Behalf Of aupopescu Sent: Friday, December 23, 2005 11:07 PM To: DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com Subject: [DSN_KLR650] Wider Throttle Tube Hi All, I am new on the list (and new with Kawa) and this is my first message here, I hope I'm doing it right. I have two problems with my new (2005) KLR, I couldn't find a front brake disc cover and I'd like to change the throttle tube with a wider (or is it longer?) one. The front disc brake: I know that there are no such parts for the KLR and I've already read about the DR350 thing from Acerbis, but it looks like they've had discontinued it. I could not find any other protectors to match (I live in Australia). The throttle tube: I have fitted the aluminium hand protectors and I have big hands, the throttle grip is too short. A throttle from a street bike will do, but I don't know what bike from. (I have the standard handlebars). All the aftermarketing off-road throttles are this narrow, and if it's from a street bike it should have the twin cables (you already know). Any good advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
