Hey folks,
I've got a friend looking for a cheap new car, van-style for
transporting stuff. Performance not an issue, but gas mileage is. Does
anyone have experience with the Scion Xb? You can e-mail me offlist at
stingray@....
Thanks!

That call was about the Xa, the less boxy-looking of
the two. Mechanically identical, different bodies.

Hi there. I am both a Scion xb and a KLR owner and love them both.
In fact, they remind me of each other in many ways. Most people
think they're ugly as hell except the folks who drive them. They
are both boxy, inexpensive, get great gas mileage in their
respective class and are practical and fun at the same time. I have
to admit that I am farckle crazy for the Scion as well. I am on my
second aftermarket suspension system and riding low with a 4" drop
and ATS cup wheels with a 5" inch old school lip and that is only to
name a very few of the mods I have done to it. Anyways, you get the
idea... I am Scion crazy as well as KLR crazy so perhaps I have
limited perspective on the subject (LOL).
But to answer your question more directly, the xb is very
practical. I can put the rear seats all the way down and store
loads of stuff in there. It is listed at 30/34 mpg, but I believe
that it gets a gallon or two less then this. Still very fuel
efficient. The price is also right and with the no dicker sticker
policy it is not a head ache to buy. I recommend the car very
highly. FYI I have had the xb for a almost two years and still
think its great.
I would recommend heading over to the scionlife.com web site. Its
the equivalent of the klr650.net site although the youngsters over
at scion can get a bit immature at times. It is still a very useful
site full of professional mechanics and amateur engineers offering
advise and such.

klr650 - heated grips . . .

George,
I use a 20 amp fused accessory circuit. It's running off of a relay
that
uses the city light connector behind the fairing as the trigger for
the
relay. That way it's on a separate fused circuit that is only
powered when
the key is on. I originally had it wired straight in, but after one
dead
battery because I didn't turn off my GPS, and I went to the city
light
circuit.

Subject: [DSN_KLR650] KLR650 - Heated Grips . . .
Listers, I need a hot wire for my heated grips that turns off with
the
key. Hate to stick a pin in all of them to test for a good one
Thanks
