How did it occur, and so quickly?

Could it have been someone associated with who you purchased the bike
 from?

				clutch pull adjustment

I recently got my dealer (yeh I know), to adjust my clutch so that it
engages closer to the bar. It was explained to me that if you adjust it so
that there is too much play (ie engages too close to the bar) this will
 cause premature clutch wear.
