Hi,
just bought 1 st Kaw. 4,000 miles. What's up with this 'balancer chain tensioner' thing. (dohickey)? Bike runs great. Should I worry about it?

You can normally find them at most marine stores. Also basspro shop or either cabelas had them at one time.
www.basspro.com or
www.cabelas.com

Hello everyone, I hope your weekend is going better
than mine: My moto is dismantled for sub-frame
repairs.
This afternoon I went to three stores looking for
footman loops, or something like them: Ace, Big R,
(and out of desperation) Home Depot. I didn't have
luck anywhere. Where do you get yours? Could you
suggest a dealer, or on-line source?
Thanks a lot,
Todd

I'll sum it up with this email, and you can disregard
the next 500 emails you just inspired.
The "doohickey" can fail, and does in 5% of KLR's.
Failure can cause catastrophic concequences 9blown
motor which at high speeds ccan suck real bad), but
usually it is just eaten by the motor and the peices
end up in the oil pan or oil screen. If you can
replace it do replace it. Many have never replaced it,
many have. No delaer on earth has ever heard of it,
every person on this board has. The real gurus know
for a fact it needs to be replaced. There are parties
in you area where wrench heads get together and
replace them and adjust valves. You can host a wrench
monkey party yourself with offers of food and beer
(mmmm beer). Welcome to the KLR world, we aint pretty,
but were f***in unstoppable...
