I have no idea if it's the "best" oil filter, but I've been using K&N
oil filters on all my bikes with good results, mostly because on the
external spin-on filters the wall thickness seems to be better making
them tougher to hole and they have nuts on the end eliminating the need
to use a filter wrench: neither of which are applicable to use on the
KLR.
I buy my K&N filters online in quantity so I buy the KN-123 for the KLR
at the same time. I see that Emgo also makes a filter for the KLR, and
if I didn't want to run the stocker, and I didn't have a source for the
K&N, I would probably go with the Emgo based on past experience. The
FAQ also lists NAPA/WIX part numbers, but I have no experience with
them. Just my 2 cents.
