I'm going to make a 1000 mile trip this spring or summer and want to
replace the factory grips. I bought some Renthal medium grips and
would like any advise this group can give. Is it a good idea to fill
the handlebars with steel to reduce vibration? My CNC guys have some
bar stock I could use.
Also if anyone has advise on what to take on the trip that would be
appreciated too. I've done some 150 mile trips before but nothing
this far. I plan on traveling from Chicago to Ohio via route 30. I
plan on making this a two day trip. I plan on over 300 miles the
first day. I'll start early to get out of the city before traffic
becomes to "thick". This should put me in the middle of Ohio by the
middle of the day. I've never taken 30 across the state, maybe
someone knows of something to see along the way?
Can't wait for spring,
Brian

For long highway jaunts I use a Throttle Rocker
(www.throttlerocker.com) so I can take my hand (mostly) off the bar
for a while. It's 10 bucks well spent.
I've got some pretty cushy grips that I think came from Dual-Star but
I can't remember the name, maybe Pro-Grip (sorry, Big K is at home
today). To tell the truth, the bar vibration has never really
bothered me much, even with stock grips. My butt gets sore before my
hands go numb.

I'm definitely looking to the throttle attachment "thingy". Thanks for the
link.

I really miss Throttle rockers original design... any one like the hook and loop design over the original all polymer?
I run the Pro Grip 737... feel better than the stockers.

That's the way I carry my expensive gear as well. Some will chime in that carrying anything on your body is dangerous in a fall, very true, but my philosophy is always not to fall.

No worries that way about shaking lens elements loose from vibration. The bags have a cross strap that keeps it tight and secure to your back........ -don [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

and loop design over the original all polymer? I bought the new model and quickly gave it away it sucked. I now have the Vista Cruise lock with a set of Pro-Grip Gel Grips #714. I never had a problem with the vibration and have done 500 plus miles in a day. It is nice to lock it in and take your hand off for a minute or two.
