a couple of questions

I'm new to the group, so excuse questions you have doubtless heard before: -- I do a lot of highway miles on my KLR. If I go to one tooth larger on the countershaft sprocket, will it make the bike insufferably geared around town? -- Can anyone recommend a specific brand and model of low front fenter for my KLR? -- Any recommendations for a reasonably priced seat? I always travel solo, if it helps. -- Can the stock charging system power my electric jacket liner and my electric gloves at the same time? And, if anyone is interested, here are some things I have learned: -- The 1550 Pelican bags are excellent, roomy and truly waterproof. -- My Fieldsheer one-piece suit is a huge bargain compared to the Stich. The best place to buy it is at Tonker.com, great prices and great service. The Fieldsheer is not as elegant as the Aerostich, but it is warm and waterproof, comes standard with spine protection (extra on the Stich) and won't look old and faded in a couple of seasons like the other guy's. -- I have the aftermarket white plastic tank, and absolutely no paint will adhere to it, even the new "Fusion" stuff. I tried decorating it with stickers, etc. and they get air bubbles in them overnight. -- I wanted a bigger foot on my kickstand, so I got one of those plastic feet the BMW guys like, and I glued it on with Shoe Goo. It would normally look hideous, but when it is up, it's hidden behind my hard bags. Not elegant, but easy. Lee Barnes __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Not "insufferable", but I don't think the 400 rpm less at highway speed is worth the loss of flexibility.

Bead seat, $15.00 from Whitehorse Press.

Perhaps just barely. More likely if you leave the gearing alone.

---- I never noticed any problem around town. In the dirt, the 16T is a pain. I've run 14, 15 and 16 tooth c/s sprockets. The stock 15t is a great all-around compromise in my opinion. It's what I run unless I'm doing extended offroad, for which I swap to a 14. Jake's nuts make swapping pretty easy.

I ran Gerbing jacket liner and gloves all winter. Never had a problem. Only mods to my electrics are an LED tail light and an Odyssey battery.

Thanks a lot for the feedback everyone. I think I'll go with either 3/4" tubing or 1/2 solid rod. I guess it'll depend on what I can find and what's easier to weld. Thanks again, jp P.S. I'll make sure to post a photo when I'm finished! Unless I'm seriously ashamed of the work...
