Jim- Cycoactive has a whole page or more about how to hardwire your eTrex, and lots of wiring options- GPS-to-accessory plug wire, GPS-to-BMW-plug, etc. I know at one time I saw instructions how to hardwire, with all the info you'd need. http://www.cycoactive.com/gps/gps_access_e.html#gce3vc running it off of external power means you can run the backlight full time (or not). Very handy. Cycle gadgets also has power cords http://www.cyclegadgets.com/Products/Garmin/detail.asp?prod=ETREX I found my power cord at Target, for about $30. I use the Etrex Vista and Garmin sells an adapter to plug in through the data port at: http://shop.garmin.com/accessory.jsp?sku=010%2D10203%2D00 L.D. ======================================================================= Jim wrote: Anyone using an Etrex GPS? Have you found a way to hardwire it to the KLR system? The unit is run with two AA batteries (3 watts right?) with no external power connections. Any electrical gurus out there who can explain how I hook this unit up directly without killing my Etrex. I assume I can wire directly to the connections or replace the batteries with ??? and regulate the amount of power (3 watts but how many amps) from the loose wires under the headlight in KLR system. Is this possible, wise, can anyone fill in the details for me? --Jim A-15 _______________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________
