diagnosis?

Another symptom that may help pinpoint my frustrating problem was
that when it started to "sputter" before cutting out, the tachometer
started to act erattically, jumping up and down by about 1000 RPM
while the engine and speed was fairly constant (80 km/hr)
Does that help in diagnosing the problem?
I really hope the collective wisdom and expertise of this group can
help me get to the bottom of this. I hate to be riding around with
the fear of being stranded somewhere in the "boonies" since I do
most of my riding alone and in the back country of BC.
Thanks, Gorm L.

I have gone through this sort of thing with a few wheels now. My advice,
is buy a set of stainless spokes and nipples from Buchananspokes.com,
and relace the wheel. Use bolt cutters to despoke it, you'll have it
apart in 2 minutes. Trying to save the spokes, or true a wheel with
seized spokes, isn't worth the time.

I had a problem with my battery not charging and I found out a wire
had it's insulation rubbed off from vibration and was grounding out
on the frame.I know it's not the same problem but you should check
your wiring from the pickup coil to the CDI and to the spark coil. I
replaced my plug boot about 4 weeks ago because the bike cut out on
me, but the tach was working
