The bow hunting season for whitetailed deer opens here in Wisconsin in a couple of weeks and I intend to use my bike to do some scouting - - which means riding logging roads and fire lanes to reach good deer habitat. Has anyone out there used their KLR to drag or carry a deer or elk quarters etc. out of the woods? Hoping to rattle and grunt as well as ride! Will

just put the call over your tailpipe and hang the antlers from your luggage rack. You can scout, grunt and rattle all at the same time... Jeff Northern Lower Michigan But hunt in the UP

I don't know how much the average whitetail weighs (guessing around 200lbs), but that's a lot to actually "carry". What I think would work is one of those rigs that the Native Americans used to use to carry large bundles behind a horse, called a travois. Or more accurately drag behind a horse. If you tied the two sides down low as far as you could, like to the frame down tubes where the subframe mounts, it would make the bike MORE stable. http://www.saskschools.ca/~gregory/firstnations/clipart/travois.jpg I towed a KTM640 with a 250lb rider for a few miles- had trouble with hillclimbs, but a travois tied off low on the bike with a whitetail should present no problem. ...just wanted to follow up with my problemo .. thanks for the help from you who responded. As it turned out, I mis-read the specs and didn't have the front axle bolts/nut torqued tightly enough.
