Sorry Kurt I just recently rejoined the list after recovering from a back
injury for almost 3 years.
Anyways what kind of tread wear can one expect from those Kings? Any ideas?

Yes, I posted favorable comments about it just a few days ago.

If the Kings KT-966 is a 50/50, then the IRC gp-110 I use is a motocross
tire suitable for loamy soil.
Am I bad?
I mean, I looked at the website photos of the tire- 50/50 street/off-road
tire with those minor spreads between knobs? Comparison test results would
be most appreciative. Hey, if the tire is hot, I want pairs.

I saw Kenda has a new tire out this year and looks a lot like a
Dunlop Trailmax. I bought one and think its great for me, sorry I
can't see a model # on it or I'd be more specific. JLH/ND

I imagine you're talking about the K761. I can't wait to try it. I've got
too many tires on hand!

I recently purchased some Maxxis M6006 tires. I just got back from a
300 mile freeway and 100 mile dirt ride. The tires work great for me.
They do the highway/curves just fine. I had no control problems what
so every. They corner well. I was on a fairly rugged 4x4 trail for
about 100 miles with rocks, sand, great climbes and had great
traction after letting the air down to a more accepable off-road
pressure. They are a little "buzzy" on the freeway, but hey, I did
not want street tires and it's not that bad. I don't know how many
miles I will get, but I only got about 3000 miles from the stock POS
tires and so far these are a huge improvement. These are the only
other tires I have tried on this bike, so I am certainly no tire
expert. When I corner I don't scrape pegs. So I am not as agressive
as some riders on this list. But I felt they got a good innitial work
out and I am happy with the results. Just my 2 cents.

If you decide you want more offroad traction, the riding you describe
would work really well with a Pirelli Scorpion Pro front and a Kenda
K760 rear. Or, a D606 front and a Kenda K760 rear.
Sounds a lot like the riding I do. I ended up getting a spare wheel set,
so I can continue using a set of DOT knobbies for street use after
they're too worn for the dirt. Now I can run them down to the carcass
with commuting and trips to the grocery store, and throw on the good set
for dirt rides.

Where is a good place to pick up an extra set of wheels?

Generally Ebay, or the list. I might have a rear wheel for sale. No
sprocket, sprocket carrier, or rotor. Condition "hurtin" but serviceable.
Anyone who's done a front end swap might have a front wheel to sell.

Have extra front wheel. Rotor included w/ new bearings. Speedo
tabs gone, but makes a great GPS rim. $125 shipped US. I think
that's $450 Canadian, right Dave?

Mike,
I had a Maxxis 6006 on the rear and liked it just fine except for the highway
whine. I ended up getting about 4000 miles from it. I just put on some Avon
Gripsters but I don't expect too much from them in the dirt.
