Just giving notice to the board that a new member has joined.
Just purchased a 2000 KLR 650. It has 1890 miles, looks great, drives
great, so that means it is time to MODIFY! Right?

What are you going to do with it?
Based on personal experience, I would make the exhaust pipe the absolute
LAST thing to modify (or leave it stock). You'll get more
improvement/rideability per dollar out of just about any other mod.

I'm learning how far a KLR can go every day with my current ride. Its my
second KLR and both have given a perfectly trouble free first 50,000 miles. If a
Ford Explorer had not killed my first KLR I might have a good idea how far a KLR
could go. The way both bikes were/are running at 50,000+ miles I don't see
any reason not to expect at east 75,000 and am thinking it will be good for
150,000 with nothing more than popping in a new piston and rings along with a
clutch at some point along the way.
