Hindsight is 20/20. Being a Rokon dealer I can tell you that the 2wd Rokon will go places that would make all but the best of the best trials and dirt bike riders faint and ATV riders would hide under the covers. The Rokon 340 was a pig and didn't work very well, but one in good condition will fetch a price that would have the seller laughing all the way to the bank. I have a list of people to call should I learn of one, in any condition, being available. Just goes to show you, it's all relative. Gino Rider Valley Motorcycles

My father has 3 of the original 1970's Trailbreakers, 1 rider, and 2 parts donors. Each rim holds 5 gallons of your (or your bikes) favorite beverage. The tire pressure is 2psi and with all the engine mods (single cylinder Chrysler? outboard, air cooled) it will almost pass itself. But, after watching my dad ride up 4' stone walls, and my mother climb a pine tree (at least until it came back over) I decided then that speed wasn't everything. They're not much for comfort, but we spent more than one long Saturday riding without complaint. And, yes, they will go through happily places a KLR would have to be left to rust. Wonder what he'd sell them for..... (actually, there is one for sale on ebay right now. More than I'd pay.)

Whew! Of the top 10, I never owned any. I thought sure My Kawasaki 350 Bighorn would make it to the top 10. It was big, heavy, wide. Still, I was able to do things on it (at slow speeds) that many others could not. I did have some of the "honorable mentions".... Ossa, Montesa, KTM/Penton. Mike

If there be any south or central Texans here, there is a bike show of some kind and a poker run scheduled for tomorrow. The location is Schulenberg (sp?). It is located off of the I-10 between Flatonia and Houston. Bike show is free, poker run is $10.00. I believe it all starts at noon. My son and I will be there, hope to see another KLR in the fray. They still make the Trailbreaker, and two others. Different motor, same transmission, same drive and wheel setup. It was the rear-wheel enduro bikes that earned Rokon a place in the Worst List. And according to a company history I read, those bikes bankrupted the company. The founder of HotGrips bought the existing stock of Trailbreakers, finished assembly, sold them and used the money to start the heated grips company. Sold it to someone else. -- Devon Brooklyn, NY A15-Z '01 KLR650 '81 SR500 cafe racer "The truth's not too popular these days....." Arnold Schwarzenneger, in The Running Man
