My KLR650 has 3000 miles on it. I noticed lately when it sits for a week or so and go to start it it does nothing for a few minutes. Seems to be the clutch safety system. After I squeeze it a few times it finally starts before that it is just dead. I suppose I should do the kickstand and the clutch so I am not left somewhere. Are there directions on this site? [american_dualsport_riders] drz seat!!

Post by Mike Torst » Sun Feb 15, 2004 8:25 pm

The narrow design that works so well for gymnastics off-road are not useful for on-road comfort. You know it now. Find your compromise - I use two seats - a dished Corbin and a Meyer saddle-type seat for getting there. I ride a highly modified 2002 KLR650, and you ride a bike that can be modified as well! Make your own seat ! You in charge. Forget corbin, they suck. Anyway, I also had issues with the seat and I tried the gel seat and for someone my size (260 lbs) that seat sucked, It didn't even last on the bike long enough for me to ride around the yard a few times. I bought the stock heigh "soft" version of the seat foam from baja designs and that with padded shorts made an extreme change in the comfort of the seat. My ass used to hurt after just 30 miles, now I can go 100+ miles days and not have a problem. And it's not the conditioning of my ass because I only ride about 10 times a year. Every spring after not riding for a while I'd have to go out and ride several times before I built up a resistance to the bitterly uncomfortable bike seat. However after a while you got used to it. Of course now they actualy make anatomical ones that are comfortable. Seems like there could be a way to keep th etock proportions and make it a lot more comfortable. I suspect I'll figure something out this summer as I intend to do the 4500 mile TAT, so I'll think the problem over. I know corbin does not currently make a seat, but we could flood corbin with emails asking about a drz seat. Or possibly if we were to get like 20 orders together maybe they could make something.
