Jim,
Are you sure you weren't sleeping and having a killer dream? How in the heck
did you manage to get the KLR up to and over 105 mph? Was it like a real long
downhill like Cajon pass with the throttle pinned? I can't imagine the
instability of the KLR at those speeds. Mine gets blown all over the place if
I don't have clean air. If you're smokin something, pass it down, no
bogarting allowed.

You should add the word "indicated" if you were going by the stock
speedometer, and subtract 5-10% from your speed. Stock japanese speedos are
notoriously inaccurate.
If your speed was measured by GPS then I apologize.
I got a little over 105 on the clock on my A15 once, before I chickened out.
The bike was accelerating a little bit. When I sat up and applied the front
brake the bike started to weave gently, which was entertaining at that
speed. If you are running any sort of knobby tire you probably should not be
going that fast.

I gotta ask. Indicated speed on the speedometer?, cops radar? 1/4
mile track paper slip or GPS? I've always found that the import
speedo's read between 5 and 10% off at higher speeds. I'll give the
GPS reading 2 thumbs up before I'd give the radar a single finger.
The speedo is for those who don't want to watch the road while
they're riding. It also changes with tires, from the beginning to
the end of a tires life. Give me a race track's ET slip and I'll
believe the 120mph head wind and flat tire stuff. Until I see it on
paper, it's your lie, you tell it any way you like.

Hey, that brings up a good question on top end speed. I was cruisin' up the
freeway and couldn't get passed 99 mph. So, seriously folks, what is the
Marketing speel on how fast these babies can really go and what is our real
experience. As for me, I'm 235lbs 6'2" and try as I might on a long flat
paved road I can't find that magical number of 100mph.
And as for instability, it was awesome - tight, strong, and it felt great -
without any after market stuff. BUT WHEN THE CROSSWIND BLEW - WOW - IT
SCARED ME SO BAD I IMMEDIATELY DROPPED DOWN TO THE SPEED LIMIT... well just
a few over

Hi Jim,
I may have been sleeping or high, but it was at the redline in 5th with
stock gearing on flat ground. I was trying to allow for speedo error when I
said 105+. The clock indicated about 110 and the bike was rock stable.

Maybe your steed is a little sick?
