Fred has an aluminum fan blade assembly that will go onto a good motor. I had bad luck with that coming apart on my bike because the crash that trashed the fan also slightly tweaked things so that when I put on the aluminum replacement it tore itself up by hitting on one of the sides. If your stuff is still straight it should work pretty good. Around $29 if I remember right. Compare that to the $269 +- for the whole assembly and you are good to try the replacement blade. A plastic replacement is NOT available anywhere that I could find. -Scott

I recently purchased a used 768 miles 2002 KLR and I'm in the process of getting the bike set up to my personal preferences. I fabricated an small aluminum panel and fastened it behind the windshield fairing on the left side. In the panel I used a Powerlet BMW style outlet and also mounted the switch for the heated grips that I purchased from Dual Star. The heated grips BTW work exceptionally well. I think you'd be much better off using the BMW style plug and outlet. The outlet has a cover to keep dirt and moisture out and when the plug is inserted it is held in place and will not vibrate loose.
