I've gotten some smart-a** responses to my post. (surprise) Some people incorrectly interpreted my comments to be 'against safety' and promoting overconfidence. I apologize for not specifying road riding when I posted it and it wasn't a slam at all against safe riding, which I certainly advocate. I agree with the intent (which I guess is to 'scare' new riders into riding safely) but not the message. I guess the '2 riders' comment is akin to sending out your 16 year old who just got their licence with a cheerful "You're going to crash !" comment as they walk out the door.... Below is a reponse to one of the reponses received but "Herm" gets the Forrest Gump award for his most elequant response.

If it's not true, then why say it ? There are many better, more accurate ways of getting the point across

Hello Seacrotty, I have nothing but good stuff to say about Waldron Kawasaki in Issaquah. They just started a few years ago to sell/service Cycles. They were primarily a snowmobile shop b4 that.. They have one Mechanic and you actually get to see him work - kindofa cool setup. I wrecked on the road on the way there (just kidding). The mechanic area of the shop is across the parking lot from the sales area. A fellow LM here was kind enough to lend me his valve spring compressor but it didn't work on all 4 valves of the 250. I brought in the head and he replaced the valves in a jiffy and it went really well. When I put the head back on, I could tell my timing chain was binding somewhere below. Since I had no flywheel puller, I took it in then. He put it all back together and everything worked excellently. He also recognizes dudes like us who try to work as much as possible. I was bummed out that I had to take it into the dealer, but being able to talk to the dude who works on the bike was very rare and I didn't feel like I was ripped off. Credentials: First bike in 1958. MSF instructor 5 years, 400 students. Motocross, enduro racer. 25 machines. First and last down on the hwy. was in 1966.
