Hi everyone, I picked up the KLR650 today. Only had time to put 20 miles on it. So far so good. No loose parts, bike seems to have been set up pretty good. I will follow the RPM restrictions the owners manual recommends till the 500 mile, and 1000 mile marks are reached. I almost went to the Honda dealer to get the XR650L cause the dealer started giving me different figures when I got there. But it worked out. So far the bike is pretty nice. I havent been on a bike in 4 years so I was nervous, and the last bike was a CR250. Much lighter, and well you know a 2 stroke, whole different bike entirely. My buddy that drove me to the dealer said it don't feel like a 650, the power just aint there probably cause of the usual emissions tune downs. I like it, and not going over 4000 RPM (like the manual says) dont tell you a lot about the power. I can tell it has all the power I will need just by the way it responds so far. The motor will suit me just fine. I like the bike, and it gets a lot of looks. It is red, and while I was picking up the bike the dealer had it outside, and some other guy looking at bikes was staring at it, I went in for a minute to sign the papers, and this guy was sitting on the bike. I was kinda ticked, I told him uhhhh thats mine - do you mind. He appologized, and quickly went inside to find out if the dealer can order him one. I guess he was looking at the dirt bikes, but decided on a KLR instead. This bike gets a lot of looks around here. Glad to say it's safely chained up in the garage..... I have some "newbie" questions now...... 1. Who do you recommend for good priced accessories for the KLR ? (online) 2. Have you guys found your valves to need an adjustment at the 500 mile mark ? (the manual recommends checking the valves at that mileage) 3. What do you recommend for future performace mods ( exhaust, etc.) 4. I'm not sure how soon I will do the "doohickey" ( the engine is to new and clean for me to take apart ) but can you give me the exact page to who sells the replacement ones ? I have looked all over the "sagebrush" site, and can't find the price or how to order it. I think I ran across a website that shows how the "doohickey" is replaced, but the one the guy was using showed having to file down the cover bolt hole inde the cover so it would clear the doohickey. I would preffer the site that sells the one you dont have to modify the bike for it to fit. Thanks for all the help, it's very much appreciated........
