klr question regarding hard to start/won't start when hot

I have a 89 KLR 650 and it runs great except it sometimes becomes hard to start when hot, or it won't start at all. Seems to be getting gas as I can smell it coming from the exhast, and it's getting fire, but it may be a weak spark....Any suggestions. I can put a new plug in (the old plug will look good, not blackened) and it will fire up. Bert

By the way the info at http://klr6500.tripod.com/doohickey.htm Marks KLR pages is great and will guide you through step by step. The hardest thing is getting all the old gasket material off if you break the gasket. Bert
