you won't believe this... tonight at 940pm some kid ran over my bike! luckily it was just parked on the street... i'm sitting and talking to my folks in their front room of the house... a bunch of kids in a couple of hopped up rice burners (honda & nissan) reving their engines and doing brake stands on the front street... not normal for the neighbourhood but normal enough for 16 yr olds... the kid backs right into and onto the front tire... drives it rearward for 3'-5' before knocking it over... kickstand skid marks on the blacktop. he never touched his brakes... duh, i never saw your bike man... no shit, you gotta look 1st to see something sherlock! so i get his info and call the cops... 45 minutes later they arrive... tell'em the story... they stroke the kid some coupons... the worst part was i said to my folks this kid is gonna run over my bike... and i watched it happen... just as i was trying to get out the front door to stop it... dam!!! now once again i am and will be without 2wheel transport... guess this is it for the summer for me... it'll sit at least a week to two before they look at it, then order parts, then install and repair.... i'd say a month down the drain... man this is frustrating... two weeks ago i was run off the road literally twice... duh! sorry man i didn't see you... how can you miss a 5'10" rider on a 4&1/2 foot bike thats olive green on a black road? i am totally pissed that i am the one out of pocket... i gotta do all the leg work because of some else's stupidity... B/S! i am not amused... get this... used to be an accident investigator... now i work for law firm traking down people involved in accidents and serving them with court doc's... how ironic can it get... y'all be safe out there... ~cdnabn49~

I'm sorry to hear your bad luck story. I can feel your pain in your post. I'm afraid to say that I would probably be in jail right now if I were in your shoes. (emotions running amuck, watching a moron do moron things, costing me alot of non-riding days) When you do get it fixed, consider how I think, and what I do. I go to the mall, I park next to the friggin front door. I go to my in-laws or friends, it's on the front lawn, or in the shade beside the house. I go out to eat, it's on the side walk, or parked right on the other side of the window where I will be sitting down eating, watching it almost every second. It's narrow, got a big 21 inch front wheel to roll over almost anything, light for a bike, dual purpose tires, and lots of suspension travel. It will go there, so I put it there, where cars can't, or won't go. Out of the way, out of sight sometimes, and away from swinging doors, backing up cars, kids touching it, drunks falling into it and just plain further away from idiots and morons. I teach for Rider's Edge, the Harley Davidson Rider Course. I parked my A9 outside the Harley / Buell dealership in the bike parking area. When I came out after teaching on a Sat. afternoon, my KLR was on it's side (the side stand side) and there is a foot print / heel kick mark in the fuel tank. The gauges were damaged, the 10" windshield was damaged and the handlebars were bent from the fall onto the concrete. None of the damage prevented me from riding it home. I registered a complaint with the storeowner. I was told sorry, but bikes do fall over. I still teach there, at the dealership, as I need the money. I did pay or the repairs myself as it was below my deductible. I don't bring my KLR to that dealership to teach anymore. PauL M. I hope find a way to let you students know that you ride things other then Harley's, so that they can know that their teacher, somebody with something they should listen to, somebody that they should look up to... you get the point. Makes you want to kick over a Harley. -- Doug Herr doug@...

They get pissy about other bikes, damage them and run. Cowards! Wonder how they would feel about getting their asses kicked by a bunch of KLR riders. Just for icing on the cake we could run their H-Ds into a mud pit. TK

I show up for the riding portion of my Rider's Edge class on my trusty KLR. I also teach the "Experienced Rider " classes for MSF. The students that took my Rider's Edge classes mingle with the students than have taken the MSF classes I teach. Seems as though, they discover my KLR does things the big V-Twins can't. It is funny; they respect me when they are in classes or by themselves. In a group, they don't even acknowledge me. Oh well look at it like this. My daughter loves me and that is all that matters. I was mostly disappointed with the response of the dealership owners. I have learned that not owning a Harley / Buell / clone does put you lower on the food chain, in some Harley owners' eyes. But a true biker would appreciate the fact that you just own a bike. PauL M.
